ShopFair is the work of one person. Scores are its own independent assessment. No brand, retailer or advertiser has any say in them, and every page has a report button if you spot something wrong.
ShopFair is free forever, with no ads or subscriptions, and nothing is uploaded or sold. Real weather in the garden is optional and off until you switch it on.
ShopFair supports VoiceOver, larger text sizes, dark mode and reduced motion, and every score is shown as a number and a rating, never colour alone.
I try to shop as ethically as I can, but I found the information can be difficult and time consuming to find. I built ShopFair with this in mind, to help people like me shop in line with their values.

ShopFair is an independent ethical spending guide covering thousands of brands, from food and fashion to banks, energy, AI and housing.
Other scanner apps are more health focused with nutrition, additives and ingredients etc. ShopFair focuses on ethical ratings such as environmental, workers' rights, tax and animal welfare. They also tend to be very food focused, so I've tried to make sure ShopFair covers most places you spend money on like banks, energy, broadband, airlines etc. Every score lists its sources too, so you can look them up yourself.
Independent sources including Ethical Consumer, Open Food Facts, Barnivore and certification registries such as Leaping Bunny, B Corp, Fairtrade, the Vegan Society, the Soil Association and Rainforest Alliance, plus NGO, regulator and court records. Where no third-party rating exists, ShopFair makes its own independent assessment from cited public evidence.
A ShopFair score is an independent assessment: an informed opinion built from cited evidence, like a review, not a certified rating. Companies change, and some entries will lag behind. Every page in the app has a Report an Error button.
The web version is the lighter one: search, scores, ownership and browsing. The iPhone and Android apps add barcode and receipt scanning, your values and a profile, and the iPhone app pairs with an Apple Watch.

Yes. ShopFair is completely free. No ads, no subscriptions, no data sold.
Your name, values and answers are saved only on your device. No account, no sign-up, and never uploaded or sold. The garden can show real weather, but only if you switch it on in Settings. Then you search for your city, and the weather service, Open-Meteo, receives the letters you type and your IP address, and later the position of the city you pick, rounded to about 11 km. Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent while it is off.
